To teach vocabulary, teachers can use interactive Power Points such as this one that teaches fruits. To encourage the students to begin using the vocabulary, there are interactive questions interspersed throughout the presentation as well as many visuals to cue meaning of any words that may be new for the students. This vocabulary Power Point includes fruits (with definite articles), places where fruits are sold, and the verbs usar, vender, hay, costar, ser, and hacer. This presentation is ideal to use along with a health unit or a foods unit.
After the students know fruits vocabulary well, use the listening activity below to assess their listening comprehension. The worksheet that goes along with the video has a list of fruits. Some of them are mentioned in the video and others are not. The students mark all of the fruits that they hear during the video. Teachers may wish to play the video more than once, depending on the level of the class.
